Suggested Materials list
(NOT mandatory, if you already have similar colors and other items feel free to bring them instead of buying exact items below I am not overly obsessed with brand or color choices as long as they're good quality and well behaved which most artist brands are):
Paints - Cobalt Blue or Ultramarine blue, Yellow Ochre, Alizarian Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Titanium or Chinese White.
Brushes: Number 8 round watercolor brush(synthetic or sable) OR an Asian Calligraphy Brush(small to medium size, I would try to bring a few spares if you wish to purchase from me), 1/2" Synthetic Flat (like an acrylic short handle brush), #1 Synthetic Liner brush(this is a brush with long belly). You can bring assorted brushes if you already have them in your inventory.
1 Palette - for eg. large white plastic/ceramic tray or butcher's tray; a medium kitchen ceramic plate works best.
1 Container to hold water - for eg. an empty yoghurt container;
1 Strathmore Watercolor pad 11x14 " size or whichever you feel comfortable with.
1 piece Corplast or waterproof working support for watercolour paper if you like to paint on paper taped on board.
1 painter's masking tape if you like to tape the paper on board
1 Retractable Razor craft Knife;
1 2B or HB pencil;
1 soft eraser like mars;
1 hair dryer. We would try to share from the centre but having your own will speed up your work;
1 Cellulose sponge helps to regulate water in brush, this is different from regular sponge. If you are not sure just use paper napkins;
1 box Paper Napkin like Kleenex for cleaning and wiping brushes or cloud techniques.
Note: Please note that many watercolor techniques are material sensitive especially paper and brushes!

I will supply tile in a variety of colours and can also supply fine china for your project if you just can’t break up Grandma’s teacups.
You’ll learn how to nip china using double wheeled nippers, what adhesive to use and how to grout your project.
Ribbon will be supplied to hang your butterfly or heart up!

Forest in Your Hands is a hands-on workshop where nature becomes close and tangible.
Working with moss is a calm, almost meditative process that results in more than just an art piece — it becomes a personal memory of forest walks, travel moments, quietness, and a sense of home.
Step by step, you will create a living composition by combining natural materials, textures, and your own feelings.
This workshop is about slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and creating something that will hold the atmosphere of the moment long after it ends.
Students will have a choose of creating a one-of a kind projects. See samples from the image gallery for ideas.
Cost: $60/includes enough moss material to create project

Butterfly/Bee Bath Class: Create a pretty mosaic butterfly/bee bath for our insect friends! You’ll use colourful mosaic tile in fun shapes to create a floral pattern in your 9” terra cotta saucer. We’ll be using silicone to make the bath weather and water resistant, so please be aware that this is not a scent free project. I’ll take your project home and grout for you and return in a week. Please wear appropriate clothing as silicone can be messy.
This class provides a take home kit if you are unable to attend the class. Please advise if you are unable to attend by emailing educator.mjmag@sasktel.net.

Workshop Description
Easter Arrivals: Custom Creatures in Spring Environments invites young artists to explore themes of change, growth, and adaptation through a creative hands-on sculpture and world-building project.
Days 1 - Participants will design and build an original creature with real and imaginative features.
Day 2- Students begin constructing a habitat diorama showing how their creature lives, eats, and survives in a spring environment.
Days 3 - Children will needle felt items for the habitats (food sources, foliage, etc)
Day 4 - Finishing touches to the habitats and adding in the needle felted items and creatures.
We will have an optional sharing opportunity for kids to practice explaining their ideas in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
This workshop emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and storytelling. All skill levels are welcome, and projects naturally scale in complexity by age.
