Carelebeads

Carol makes her own glass beads by melting rods of glass in the flame of a propane and oxygen fuelled torch. She heats the rods of glass in the flame and then wind the molten glass around a steel welding rod, which creates the hole in the bead. She can move the glass when it is soft to create different shapes - round, square, oblong, heart, animal, or whatever she comes up with! She adds dots, lines and squiggles.  Several layers of glass can be added to a bead which will provide depth.  She also has made some beads that were not made on a mandrel.  They are a bit tricky but like all lamp working, once you get it, you get it.
