1:00 to 5:00 pm
Cost: $40/materials included
Symbolizing Orange Shirt Day and the Every Child Matters movement together with a handmade pin.
Involves a felt base cut into a shirt shape, covered with orange beads using flat stitch. This workshop offers a chance to learn Indigenous beadwork, reflect on the history of residential schools and express solidarity with Indigenous communities.
On how the workshop will run.
1. Prepare the base: Attach a shirt template to a piece of felt, which serves as the base for the beadwork.
2. Bead the shirt: Using a needle and thread, attach orange and black beads to the template, following a pattern to create the shirt.
3. Sew the pin onto a backing - like leather or pleather.
4. Attach a pin backing onto the leather once the beading and sewing is complete.
